Sweet Movement

verse:

Invited to a dinner party,

Nobody ever came.

That's ok my friend, because I'll get used to it

Sitting at the table,

And I'm staring at an empty plate.

Like I said my friends we're always used to it.

I could take off running,

Never stopping, never slowing down.

But in the end I know my feet would never leave the ground.

Invited to a dinner party,

Puts my mind to shame.

Can't you see,

I've got this time on my hands?

Can't you see see,

I've got this time on my hands?

I can't see, I can't see.

chorus:

Everybody wants to feel the real thing,

(Sweet movement)

Ten more years and it'll be the same thing,

(Sweet movement)

Everybody wants to feel the real thing,

(Sweet movement)

Ba ba da ba...

verse:

I know you want it.

Somebody picked you up for the dance.

Invited to a dinner party,

Nobody ever came,

It's happening again, at least we're used to it.

I'm sitting at the table,

And I'm thinking this is getting lame.

Can't you see,

I've got this time on my hands?

chorus:

Touch,

Taste,

(Sweet movement)

In,

Take,

(Sweet movement)

Everybody wants to be the real thing.

(Sweet movement)

Ba ba da ba...

Daniel on lead vocals and lead guitar, Derek on backing guitar, Alex on bass and backing vocals, Austin on drums.

"Sweet Movement" marks another adventure into more experimental territory. Daniel brought the main riff and melody to practice and the band expanded on it. The simplicity of the song structure contrasts greatly with the sudden breaks and interesting guitar textures--most notably, Daniel's guitar harmonics at the 2:15 mark.

"Sweet Movement" first appeared on the Demonstration IV LP.
